Extendo Bed
Features
The latest advancement in truck
and van accessories featuring:
The Patented Three-Stage Telescoping Assembly:
The basic Extendo Bed unit is made up of three individual
frame assemblies.
(1) The Anchor Frame is built of 4"
Structural channels and is secured to the bed of the
vehicle by use of 4 high-strength bolts and an anchoring
system beneath the vehicle.
(2) The Transfer Frame is built of 4"
structural H-Beams and provides a track system for the
other two frame members, thus providing complete extension
of the cargo frame.
(3) The Cargo Frame is the section that
actually carries the cargo on a simple plywood platform,
or any one of numerous cargo carrier options.
Over 100% Extension
The three-stage Frame Assembly design of the Extendo Bed
allows the Cargo Frame to extend completely out of the
vehicle. The actual travel distance of each model will
vary as a percentage of the length of the model. All models
have a minimum of 102% extension and some go as high as
121%.
1200# Load Capacity
The Extendo Bed will easily support 1200 pounds even at full
extension of the Extendo Bed unit. This is a constant load
capacity and is in addition to the cargo platform or carrier
that is properly fastened to the Cargo Frame. Load capacities
can also be upgraded to 1500# or 1800# capacity, though
this option is seldom necessary.
Spring-Loaded Lock Assembly
The lock assembly is an integral part of the Cargo Frame
and is made up of a ¾" diameter steel rod the
length of the assembly. Lock points are located at just
over 100% extension and at approximately each 12" of
travel. This allows the unit to be locked at various positions
of travel for field work. But more importantly, it offers
protection against injury to the operator if the unit is
opened or closed while on a slope. When the lock handle
is released, the unit will stop at the next lock point.
The lock assembly is heavy duty and can be operated with
one hand. A second pull handle is also attached to the
end of the Cargo Frame for ease of operation.
Heavy Duty Steel Bearings
Eight HEAVY-DUTY steel bearings (3.34" in diameter)
travel in the tracks of the Transfer Frame and provide years
of smooth and easy, maintenance-free operation. Each bearing
has a static load capacity of over 4000# and is mounted to
either the Cargo Frame or the Anchor Frame by use of special
machined bearing mounts that are welded to the Frame Assemblies.
The bearings can be easily removed by removing a snap ring,
should replacement ever be required. There are no bolts that
will bend or strip.
Storage Area
A storage area approximately 4” deep by 22” wide
and the length of the anchor frame, is available beneath
the unit. Since the Extendo Bed has over 100% extension,
this area is easily accessible with the Extendo Bed extended.
This area provides excellant storage for items such as chains,
jumper cables, and numerous small parts and tools.
In the full size vehicles, approximately 8” of storage
space is available on each side of the Extendo Bed beneath
the platform. The track system is protected by two track
guard angles that are provided with each unit and attached
to the floor of the vehicle.
Industrial Durability:
With the steel design noted in the features above, the Extendo
Beds are nearly indestructible. The units are commonly
transferred as vehicles are replaced, resulting in minimal
down time and a maximum utilization of capital expenditures.
Optional Weather Awning:
A very useful feature that can be added as an option to most
Extendo Beds is the weather awning. It is a very high quality
industrial setup that will keep you more comfortable and
dry in most weather conditions. Please click on this link
